October is breast cancer awareness month. Screening for breast cancer has dramatically increased the numbers of cancers found in the stage where it is most treatable or even curable. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among woman, but understanding and early detection is important to us all.

Here are a few signs and symptoms to look for…

  1. Lump in breast or underarm.
  2. Indentations, or a change in temperature or texture in the breast.
  3. Breast pain or tenderness.
  4. Itching, burning or discharge in nipple.
  5. Sores or rash on nipple.

By performing monthly breast self-exams you will be able to identify any changes in your breast. If you notice anything unusual please see a healthcare professional.
